Principal Chair Prep

What Is This?

The Principal Chair Training Program is an exclusive one-on-one
mentorship experience designed to shape the next generation of orchestral
leaders.
You don’t just learn how to play your part — you learn how to lead the
entire section.
You’ll study directly with real principal musicians from the world’s leading
orchestras — the same people who hold the chair you’re aiming for.
This is where technique, musical integrity, psychological strength, and
leadership training all meet.
This is where first stand begins.

What You’ll Study

Musical Leadership

  • How to shape the pulse, line, and phrasing from the front
  • Nonverbal communication: cueing, breathing, movement
  • Establishing clarity in articulation, tone, and dynamics
  • Solving blend and timing issues with subtle control
  • Playing principal excerpts vs. tutti ones — different psychology, different tools

Psychological & Professional Leadership

  • Confidence under pressure: auditions, concerts, recording sessions
  • Rehearsal diplomacy: when to speak, when to adjust, when to lead
  • Managing section dynamics and interpersonal tension
  • Remaining calm and grounded during chaos
  • Preparing like a professional: before the rehearsal even begins

This is the kind of preparation no one teaches — until now.
