Music Before Memory

Before a child can speak, they can hear rhythm.

Before they can read, they can sing.

Before they can name emotion, they can feel it in sound.

This is not entertainment. This is not screen time. This is the foundation of musicianship — and a gift that lasts a lifetime.

The Research

Why Music Matters This Early

Decades of research confirm what musicians have always known: early musical experiences shape the brain, the heart, and the whole person.

Brain Development

Musical training strengthens neural pathways for language, memory, and attention. Children who study music show enhanced cognitive development across all areas.

Harvard Medical School

Emotional Intelligence

Music helps children recognize, express, and regulate emotions. Group music-making builds empathy, cooperation, and social awareness from the earliest ages.

American Academy of Pediatrics

Language & Literacy

Musical training improves phonological awareness — the foundation of reading. Children with early music education show stronger vocabulary and reading comprehension.

Northwestern University

Motor Skills

Clapping, dancing, and playing instruments develop fine and gross motor coordination. Music integrates body and mind in ways that other activities cannot.

Journal of Early Childhood Research

Academic Success

Students with music education score higher on standardized tests, show better focus in school, and develop stronger problem-solving abilities.

National Endowment for the Arts

Parent-Child Bond

Shared musical experiences create lasting memories and strengthen the attachment relationship. Music becomes a language families speak together.

What We Teach

A Developmentally Designed Curriculum

Our curriculum isn't random songs and games. It's a carefully sequenced progression built on decades of research in early childhood music education.

01

Rhythm & Beat

The foundation of all music. Children develop an internal sense of steady beat through movement, clapping, and body percussion — skills that transfer directly to reading readiness and motor coordination.

  • Steady beat awareness
  • Simple rhythm patterns
  • Call and response
  • Body percussion
02

Melody & Pitch

From the earliest lullabies to simple solfège, children develop the ability to hear, match, and eventually read pitch — the building blocks of singing and instrumental music.

  • Pitch matching games
  • High/low discrimination
  • Simple melodic patterns
  • Early solfège (sol-mi-la)
03

Movement & Expression

Music lives in the body. Through dance, creative movement, and expressive play, children learn to embody music — connecting sound to feeling and feeling to motion.

  • Creative movement
  • Action songs
  • Expressive interpretation
  • Dance and locomotion
04

Listening & Awareness

Deep listening is a skill that serves children throughout life. We train ears to notice dynamics, timbre, form, and the emotional qualities of sound.

  • Active listening exercises
  • Sound discrimination
  • Musical storytelling
  • Instrument exploration

Questions

Frequently Asked by Parents

Our Early Childhood Music Program serves children from birth through age 7. We have specific programming for 0–3 (parent-child classes), 3–5 (creative music play), and 5–7 (pre-instrumental foundations). We also offer private 1:1 coaching for any age within this range.
Not at all! Our classes are designed for all families, regardless of musical background. The only requirement is a willingness to sing, move, and play alongside your child. Our teachers guide you through everything.
Classes are typically 30–45 minutes, designed to match the attention span of young children. The format includes warm-up songs, active music-making, and a closing ritual — perfectly paced for little ones.
All you need is a device (computer, tablet, or phone) with Zoom access and a stable internet connection. A larger screen works best so your child can see the teacher clearly. No special equipment or instruments are required — we use household items like scarves, pillows, and pots and pans!
Yes! Siblings are welcome to participate in the same class. Our activities are designed to be inclusive across a range of ages, and many families find that having siblings together makes the experience even more special.
This is completely normal and expected! Our teachers are trained in early childhood development and know that young children learn through movement, exploration, and sometimes wandering away from the screen. The music continues, and children absorb more than you might think — even when they're not "paying attention" in a traditional sense.
Our Pre-Instrumental Foundations track (ages 5–7) is specifically designed to prepare children for their first instrument. When your child completes this program, they'll have the rhythmic foundation, listening skills, and musical vocabulary to begin piano, violin, voice, or any instrument with confidence. Our teachers can also provide individual guidance on timing and instrument selection.
