Not for the Beginner-level Songwriting Craft certificate. However, Intermediate and Advanced programs (Orchestration, Film Scoring) require basic music literacy. We offer preparatory resources for students who need to build their reading skills.
Absolutely. While our foundational courses cover cross-genre principles, your projects and capstone work can focus on any genre — pop, country, R&B, classical, jazz, electronic, or anything in between.
A keyboard or guitar for songwriting exercises, plus a basic DAW for recording demos. Film & Game Scoring requires notation software (Dorico, Sibelius, or MuseScore). Specific requirements are listed on each certificate page.
