TGC Songwriting Competition Where words meet melody
Celebrating songcraft across every genre — from intimate acoustic ballads to arena-ready anthems, and everything in between.
Celebrating the art of songwriting across all genres. Pop, rock, R&B, country, folk, jazz, musical theater, hip-hop — if it has lyrics and melody, it belongs here.
Open to solo writers and co-writing teams from anywhere in the world. No age restrictions. No genre boundaries. Just great songs.
Four Categories, Infinite Possibilities
Submit your work in the category that best fits your song. Each category has its own winner and prize, plus all category entries compete for the Grand Prize.
Contemporary Pop, Rock & R&B
Chart-ready songs that push boundaries. Whether you're writing the next festival anthem or a late-night R&B slow burn, this is your category.
Demo + Lyric SheetAcoustic, Folk & Country
Songs that live in the bones of an acoustic guitar or piano. Stories that breathe. From Appalachian folk to modern country to singer-songwriter intimacy.
Demo + Lyric SheetMusical Theater & Jazz Standards
Songs written for the stage, the cabaret, or the jazz club. Character-driven storytelling, sophisticated harmony, theatrical flair. Classic forms, fresh voices.
Demo + Lyric Sheet + Context NoteOpen & Experimental
For songs that defy categorization. Electronic, hybrid, spoken word with melody, genre-blending work — if it doesn't fit neatly elsewhere, it fits perfectly here.
Demo + Lyric Sheet + Artist StatementEverything We Need to Hear
We judge the song, not the studio. Home recordings, phone demos, and bedroom productions are all welcome. Clarity matters more than polish.
- Demo Recording — Audio file (MP3 or WAV) of your song. Home studio quality is absolutely accepted. We want to hear the song, not the mix. Vocals must be clearly audible.
- Lyric Sheet — Complete lyrics in a readable format (PDF or document). Include verse, chorus, and bridge labels. If the song uses non-English lyrics, provide a translation.
- Brief Artist Statement — Tell us about the song in 150 words or fewer. What inspired it? What were you reaching for? This helps our jury understand your creative intent.
- Co-Writer Credits — If your song was co-written, list all writers and their contributions. All co-writers must consent to the submission. One writer submits on behalf of the team.
- Original Works Only — All submissions must be original compositions. No covers, no interpolations of copyrighted material. Samples must be cleared or original.
Detailed submission guidelines and technical specifications will be published when registration opens in February 2027.

Every Song Deserves to Be Heard
The music industry has always favored songwriters with connections — those who happen to know the right publisher, the right A&R rep, the right producer. Talent alone has never been enough to open doors.
The TGC Songwriting Competition exists to change that equation. We believe a brilliant song written in a bedroom in Lagos deserves the same chance as one pitched from a Nashville writing room. Geography, budget, and industry access should never determine whether a great song finds its audience.
By bringing internationally accomplished adjudication online and connecting winners directly with sync supervisors, publishers, and recording opportunities, we're building the bridge that should have existed all along.
