How we choose faculty

Faculty at The Global Conservatory are reviewed personally by our Executive Board. We do not auto-list teachers. Every faculty member earns their place by meeting a clear standard of artistry, pedagogy, and professional reliability.

Who reviews each application

Every application is read end-to-end by the Artistic Director and the Executive Board. There is no automated filter. We typically respond within 2–3 weeks. Acknowledgement of receipt arrives within 24 hours.

What we look for

Artistic standing

Conservatory or institutional position, principal-level orchestral seat, recognised performance career, or equivalent industry standing.

Pedagogical evidence

A teaching sample (recorded or live), a written approach to a representative student, references from current or former students.

Working professional

For the Music Business & Industry division: active sync agent, music attorney, label A&R, working bandleader, music-tech founder, royalties specialist, or equivalent. We weigh current work, not titles.

Communication & reliability

A faculty member is also a steward of a student's experience. We weigh response time, clarity, and follow-through across the application itself.

How teaching quality is monitored

  • Intro video review. Every faculty member submits a teaching or performance clip. Re-reviewed annually.
  • Lesson notes. Faculty are expected to leave a short note after each lesson; students see them in their portal.
  • Student post-lesson signals. Re-booking rate and direct student feedback go to the Board, anonymised.
  • Curriculum coherence. For multi-lesson programs, faculty publish a clear arc — not just one-off bookings.

Faculty teaching minors

  • Annual background check, where commercial screening is available in the faculty’s jurisdiction (TGC pays the fee); enhanced reference verification otherwise.
  • Identity verification at the start of each lesson for students under 13.
  • Parents may attend any lesson, recorded or unrecorded, without notice.
  • Any communication outside the platform is grounds for review.

Full safeguarding policy lives in our policies and the public Terms.

How complaints are handled

Any student or parent can email info@theglobalconservatory.com with a concern about a faculty member. The Board acknowledges within 24 hours and resolves within 14 days. Outcomes can include refund, re-match (free of admissions cost), warning, suspension, or removal. We document every case.

The verified badge

You'll see a small Verified pill on faculty cards. It means: identity verified, credentials reviewed, teaching sample reviewed, and child-safety eligible (where applicable). The badge is reviewed annually.
