What Performers Want to Know

Everything you need to know about performing on The Global Stage

How do I prepare for a livestream performance?

Preparation for a Global Stage performance begins 2-3 weeks before your date. You'll be paired with a faculty mentor who guides your repertoire selection, stage presence for camera, and technical setup. We provide a detailed preparation guide covering everything from lighting your space to choosing your wardrobe. Most importantly, we help you adapt your performance energy for the intimate, close-up nature of livestream.

What equipment do I need?

At minimum, you need a reliable internet connection (minimum 10 Mbps upload), a computer with a webcam, and your instrument. For the best quality, we recommend an external USB microphone, ring light or softbox lighting, and a neutral background. Our technical team will assess your setup during the pre-performance consultation and provide specific recommendations. We can also loan equipment to selected performers.

Can my family and friends watch?

Absolutely! Every Global Stage performance is broadcast live and is accessible to viewers worldwide. You'll receive a unique share link that you can send to family, friends, teachers, and supporters. There's no limit to the audience size. After the performance, the archived recording is also available for sharing. Many of our performers tell us this is the first time distant family members have been able to attend their recitals.

Will my performance be archived?

Yes. Every Global Stage performance is professionally archived in high definition. You'll receive a personal copy of your performance within 48 hours, along with a highlight reel suitable for social media. The full performance is added to The Global Conservatory's permanent archive, building a living library of artistic achievement. You retain full rights to use your recording for auditions, portfolios, and personal promotion.

Is there a cost to perform?

The Global Stage performance opportunity is included for all enrolled TGC students at no additional cost. For alumni and guest performers, there may be a nominal production fee to cover technical support and archiving. We believe every artist deserves a stage, and we work to keep costs as accessible as possible. Scholarships for the production fee are available upon request.

What if something goes wrong during the stream?

Our production team monitors every stream in real-time with backup systems in place. If there's a brief internet interruption, we have a 30-second buffer that seamlessly covers most drops. For longer issues, we can pause the stream with a professional holding screen and resume when you're ready. In the rare event of a major technical failure, we guarantee a reschedule at your earliest convenience. The show always goes on — we make sure of it.

Ready to Take the Stage?

Your audience is waiting. Whether you're ready to perform or want to experience the magic as a viewer, The Global Stage welcomes you.
