Frequently Asked Questions

Is TGC currently accredited to grant degrees?
Not yet. TGC is actively pursuing accreditation partnerships with internationally recognized universities. When our degree programs launch, all degrees will be awarded by our accredited university partner(s), ensuring full international recognition. Our certificate programs are available now and do not require accreditation.
When will degree programs be available?
We are targeting 2029 for the launch of our Bachelor of Music and Master of Music programs, with the Doctor of Musical Arts following in 2030. These timelines depend on the progress of our accreditation partnerships and are subject to change.
How will the partnership model work?
TGC is pursuing a validation partnership model where an accredited university partner validates our programs and awards the degrees. You would study with TGC faculty on our platform, while the degree credential comes from the accredited partner institution. This is an established model used by universities worldwide.
Will TGC certificates count toward a future degree?
We are designing our certificate programs to be stackable, meaning the coursework and skills you develop now are intended to count toward future degree requirements once our degree programs launch. Specific credit transfer policies will be determined in partnership with our accrediting university partner.
Can I study at TGC right now?
Yes! TGC offers 46 professional certificate programs across 6 categories (Production, Songwriting, Business, Pedagogy, Performance, and Wellness), plus private lessons, masterclasses, competitions, ensemble programs, and more. Visit our Certificates Overview to get started.
What are the Executive Diplomas?
Our Executive Diploma programs are professional development credentials designed for working musicians, arts administrators, and music industry professionals. They cover specialized fields like music finance, publishing, festival leadership, and recording industry management. These programs do not require degree-level accreditation and are designed to advance your career immediately.
Are you a university?
TGC is a global music academy and professional education institution. We are not currently a university and do not use that designation. Our goal is to partner with accredited universities to offer degree programs while maintaining our unique global, online-first approach to conservatory education.
How much will tuition cost?
Projected tuition for TGC degree programs is significantly lower than traditional conservatories: Bachelor of Music at $8K-$15K/year, Master of Music at $6K-$9K/year, and Doctor of Musical Arts at $8K-$14K/year. Final tuition will be announced prior to enrollment opening and is subject to accreditation partnership terms.
Will degrees be available to international students?
Yes. TGC is designed from the ground up for a global student body. Our degree programs will be available to students in 14 countries, with time-zone-friendly scheduling, multilingual support resources, and no relocation requirement. Specific visa or regulatory requirements will depend on our accredited university partner's policies.
What technology do I need?
You will need a reliable internet connection (minimum 10 Mbps recommended), a computer or tablet with a camera and microphone, and your instrument. For certain programs, additional equipment like a quality external microphone or audio interface may be recommended. Detailed technical requirements will be published with each program's admissions materials.
Can I work while studying?
Yes. Our degree programs are being designed with working musicians and professionals in mind. Flexible scheduling, asynchronous coursework options, and recorded lesson archives allow you to balance your studies with professional engagements, teaching, and performance commitments.
Does TGC offer drama and dance degrees?
Yes. TGC is developing BFA and MFA programs in both Drama & Theatre Arts and Dance & Ballet, alongside our music degree programs. BFA programs are projected for 2029 and MFA programs for 2030.
How can performing arts be taught online?
TGC uses HD multi-angle video, motion-capture analysis, virtual rehearsal spaces, real-time ensemble workshops, and weekly 1:1 master-class sessions. Our technology platform is purpose-built for the physical demands of acting, dance, and music training.
What is the difference between BFA and MFA?
The BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) is a 4-year undergraduate degree (120 credits). The MFA (Master of Fine Arts) is a 2–3 year graduate degree (60 credits) and is the terminal creative degree — it qualifies graduates for university teaching positions and advanced professional careers.
How do I start building toward a degree today?
The best way to start is by enrolling in one or more of our 46 professional certificate programs. These programs are designed to be stackable toward future degree requirements, so the skills and credits you earn now are intended to count when degree enrollment opens. You can also join the interest list above to receive priority updates.
