Frequently Asked Questions

Can dance really be taught online?
Yes — with the right technology. TGC will use HD multi-angle video, motion analysis software, and real-time faculty feedback to deliver rigorous technique training. Optional in-person residencies at partner studios worldwide will supplement the online experience for partnering, ensemble work, and live performance. This hybrid model has been validated by leading dance educators.
Is TGC offering the BFA in Dance right now?
No. The BFA in Dance & Ballet is currently in development with a target launch of 2029. TGC is actively pursuing accreditation partnerships. You can join the interest list to receive updates and be among the first to apply when admissions open.
How does accreditation work?
TGC is pursuing accreditation through partnerships with established universities. The BFA in Dance & Ballet will be delivered through an accredited partner institution, ensuring your degree is recognized worldwide. Details will be announced when the partnership is formalized.
What about partnering and pas de deux?
Partnering work will be a core component of the intensive residency program. Students will attend in-person residencies at partner studios where they will work on pas de deux, ensemble choreography, and live performance under the guidance of master teachers. The residency schedule will be designed to fit within the academic calendar.
Will there be in-person residencies?
Yes. TGC is building a global network of partner studios in major dance cities. Students will have the option to attend intensive residencies for partnering, ensemble work, live performance, and community building. Residencies will be optional but strongly encouraged, particularly for the Classical Ballet and Musical Theatre tracks.
What dance styles are covered?
The five concentrations cover classical ballet (Vaganova, Cecchetti, RAD), contemporary and modern dance (Graham, Cunningham, Limón, release technique), choreography and dance making, dance education and pedagogy, and commercial dance and musical theatre (jazz, hip-hop, tap). Additional world dance electives will be available.
Can I transfer credits from dance certificates?
TGC is designing the BFA pathway so that credits earned through TGC certificate and diploma programs can count toward the degree. The exact transfer policy will be determined in partnership with the accrediting university and announced before admissions open.
What equipment or space do I need at home?
You will need a space large enough for full-body movement (approximately 3m x 3m minimum), a ballet barre (portable or wall-mounted), a stable internet connection, and a camera capable of HD video. Specific flooring recommendations (sprung or marley) will be provided. TGC will offer guidance on setting up a safe home studio.
Will there be performance opportunities?
Absolutely. TGC’s Virtual Stage platform will enable students to stream performances with audience interaction. Students will create and perform choreographic work throughout the program, building a comprehensive digital portfolio. In-person performance opportunities will be available during residencies.
What makes TGC different from other online dance programs?
TGC will be the first online conservatory to offer a full BFA in Dance with world-class faculty from institutions like the Bolshoi, Batsheva, and Broadway. The combination of HD motion analysis technology, daily live technique classes, 1:1 coaching, dance science integration, and a global partner studio network creates a training experience that no other online program can match.
