The Concept

Concentrated Preparation

Some goals require momentum over time. Others require intensity in the moment. Seasonal intensives deliver the latter.

Weekly lessons spread development over months. That's valuable for long-term growth, but sometimes you need rapid progress—an upcoming audition, a transition deadline, or a window of availability that demands concentrated focus.

Seasonal Intensives are the immersive preparation track of the Military Band & Service Ensembles Division.

These multi-week programs combine everything: excerpt training, mock auditions, career coaching, ceremonial readiness, and physical/mental preparation—delivered in intensive formats during key windows throughout the year. One to four weeks of daily sessions, multiple faculty, comprehensive preparation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Both formats are available depending on the program. The Summer Audition Intensive includes both in-person and remote options. Shorter programs like Winter Preparation Week and Spring Mock Weekend are primarily conducted remotely with optional in-person components for those who can attend.
We limit enrollment to maintain quality. Admission is based on readiness and fit rather than just playing level—we want students who are genuinely pursuing military band careers and can benefit from intensive preparation. Serious candidates at various levels are welcome; you don't need to be audition-ready to apply.
Absolutely. Many students attend multiple intensives over their preparation timeline—Fall Foundations to build their base, Summer Intensive for comprehensive preparation, and Spring Mock Weekend for final polish. Each program builds on the others.
Varies by program, but expect 4-8 hours of structured programming daily during intensive periods. A typical day might include: morning physical/mental training, midday lessons and coachings, afternoon mock auditions or repertoire sessions, and evening masterclasses or career workshops. Detailed schedules are provided to accepted participants.
For in-person components, we provide housing recommendations but do not include lodging in program fees. Some programs offer optional group housing arrangements for cohort members who want to stay together. Details are provided upon acceptance.
