Michael Dewis is a distinguished British baritone and vocal coach with over 30 years of international professional experience as an opera soloist and teacher. Now based near Oviedo in northern Spain, he teaches singers both online and in person, drawing on a lifetime of performance at the highest level of the operatic world.

Michael has sung principal roles with some of the most prestigious opera companies in Europe, including the Royal Opera House (ROH), English National Opera (ENO), and Welsh National Opera (WNO). His concert career includes performances with leading orchestras such as the London Symphony Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, and Royal Scottish National Orchestra, among many others.

He is a graduate of the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, where he spent two years in the Opera School, followed by a year at the National Opera Studio. Alongside his performance career, Michael has developed a deep passion for teaching, helping singers build healthy vocal technique, artistic freedom, and lasting confidence.

Michael is known for his positive, pupil-focused teaching style, working with adult and senior singers from beginner to professional levels. He runs The Singer’s Studio YouTube channel and has extensive experience teaching via Zoom, supported by a full professional studio setup.

Over 30 years of international operatic experience, performing principal roles with ROH, ENO, WNO, and major European opera companies.

Extensive concert career, appearing with world-class orchestras including the LSO, BBC Symphony Orchestra, CBSO, and RSNO.

Guildhall School of Music & Drama graduate, with advanced opera training at GSMD Opera School and the National Opera Studio.
