Laura Sippola (DMus) is a pianist, composer, and singer-songwriter. She has had a long career as an independent and distinctive artist. Sippola earned her Doctor of Music degree from the University of the Arts Helsinki (MuTri) in 2017, becoming Finland's first singer-songwriter to complete a doctoral degree. Her artistic doctoral research explored the process of songwriting and the artist identity of the singer-songwriter as both creator and performer of songs.

Sippola has released seven solo albums, with her most recent releases under the artist name AURAL. She is one of the key figures in Finnish singer-songwriter music and among the first female singer-songwriters in Finland to produce and release her own music independently.

Sippola teaches songwriting at the Open Campus of the University of the Arts Helsinki and at the Critical Academy. She has also written music for other artists and worked as a pianist and vocalist in various ensembles.
