Beatriz da Silva Baião is an internationally active flutist and piccolo specialist, recognized for her orchestral excellence, refined musicianship, and high-level pedagogical work. Based in Rotterdam, Netherlands, she is Piccolo Solo of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and a faculty member at Codarts, University of the Arts, where she teaches flute and piccolo at the conservatory level.
Since 2022, Beatriz has held the position of Piccolo Solo with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, performing a wide-ranging orchestral repertoire at the highest professional standard. Her career includes extensive collaborations with leading ensembles such as the Orchestre de Paris, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, Camerata Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Orquestra Gulbenkian, Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchester d’Auvergne, and Orquestra XXI, among many others. She has also served as Temporary Principal Flute at GöteborgsOperan in Sweden and was a member of the European Union Youth Orchestra.
As a soloist, Beatriz has appeared with major orchestras including the Orquestra Gulbenkian, following her First Prize win at the Prémio Jovens Músicos (Portugal). She has performed extensively in chamber music settings and is a frequent guest artist and masterclass instructor across Europe.
Beatriz completed both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, studying with Sophie Cherrier, Vincent Lucas, Pierre Dumail, and Nathalie Rozat. Her earlier studies began at the Conservatório de Música de Aveiro Calouste Gulbenkian under Ana Maria Ribeiro. Her education was supported by scholarships from the Fondation Tarrazi and the Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian.
As an educator, Beatriz teaches Intermediate through Professional-level students, focusing on orchestral excerpts, solo repertoire, and advanced flute and piccolo technique. Her teaching is structured, creative, and goal-oriented, with an emphasis on technical reliability, stylistic precision, and professional preparation for auditions and orchestral careers.
