Born in Essen to Vietnamese immigrants, the international pianist Anh Trung Sam studied at the music universities in Karlsruhe and Vienna with André Boainain, Peter Nelson, Charles Spencer and Oleg Maisenberg, graduating with top marks and distinction. While art songs were already the focus of his work even before his studies, Anh Trung Sam is now considered as one of the most accomplished and sought-after accompanists of his generation and he performs art song recitals troughout Europe in the US as well as in Far East Asia.

The press praises his magical piano sound as well as his extraordinary sensitivity for breathing, phrasing and colors - an artistry that makes him a sought-after partner for singers.

Recitals with world renowned singers such as Christoph Prégardien, Roman Trekel, Christian Elsner, Thomas Michael Allen, Peter Schöne, Konstantin Wolff, Sabine Ritterbusch, Falko Hönisch, Maria Venuti, Roland Hermann, Britta Stallmeister, Lisa Wedekind and many others led the pianist throughout Europe to famous festivals such as the Schubertiade Schwarzenberg, the Nieder- sächsische Musiktage Hannover, the Beaminster Festival England, the Weingartner Musiktage, the Ludwigsburg Schlossfestspiele, the Beethovenfest Bonn etc. He has also performed at renowned venues such as the Sinfonie Bamberg, Konzerthaus Berlin, Philharmonie Essen, Schloss Ettlingen, Liederhalle Stuttgart, Opéra de Lille, Paris, Helsinki, Musikverein Vienna, the Tonhalle Zurich and many more.

Anh Trung Sam has got a full professorship at the renowned “Cologne University of Music and Dance” and heads the Lied-academy.

In addition to his active concert career, Sam gives masterclasses in Europe, the U.S. and far east Asia.

Studio and live recordings of various song recitals have been repeatedly broadcast on radio stations such as the SWR, BR, HR, NDR, Deutschlandradio, Radio France and CD recordings were released by the labels “Harmonia Mundi France” and “Carus”.
