The audition room is one of the most high-pressure environments a musician will ever face. In a matter of minutes, you must demonstrate years of preparation, artistic depth, and technical command. This intensive is designed to help you walk into that room fully prepared.

Over two intensive weeks, you will work on every dimension of the audition experience: repertoire preparation and polish, mock auditions with realistic panel feedback, sight-reading proficiency, interview skills, mental performance techniques, and professional-quality recording and self-evaluation methods.

Each day is carefully structured to build technique, artistry, and mental resilience in a progressive, supportive environment.

Morning Session

Technique & Warm-Up Masterclass

Begin each day with guided warm-up routines, technical exercises, and a group masterclass focused on fundamentals. Build the physical and mental foundation for everything that follows.

Midday Session

Repertoire Coaching (Small Groups)

Work in small groups of four to six with a faculty coach on your selected audition repertoire. Receive detailed feedback on musical interpretation, technical execution, and presentation.

Afternoon Session

Mock Auditions with Panel Feedback

Perform your repertoire in a simulated audition setting. A panel of faculty evaluators provides written scores and constructive critique, replicating real-world audition conditions.

Evening Session

Mental Preparation & Visualization Workshop

Close each day with guided visualization, performance anxiety techniques, journaling exercises, and group discussions on the mental dimensions of performing under pressure.

The Summer Audition Prep Intensive is open to all orchestral instruments, piano, guitar, and all voice types. Our faculty roster is designed to cover the major instrument families, and small-group coaching is organized by instrument or instrument family to ensure relevance and specificity.
No. While many participants will have specific upcoming auditions, the skills covered in this intensive are valuable for any musician who anticipates auditioning in the future. The techniques for mental preparation, repertoire selection, and performance under pressure are lifelong skills that benefit musicians at any stage of planning.
Expect approximately five to six hours of scheduled sessions per day, spread across morning, midday, afternoon, and evening blocks. You will also need time for individual practice and preparation between sessions. The intensive is designed to be immersive while still allowing for rest and personal practice time.
Mock auditions are conducted via high-quality video conferencing with a panel of faculty evaluators. You will perform your repertoire in real time while the panel scores and takes notes. After each performance, you receive both immediate verbal feedback and detailed written evaluations. This format also prepares you for the video audition submissions that many institutions now require.
You will need a reliable internet connection, a computer or tablet with a camera and microphone, and a quiet space to practice and perform. For recording workshops, a smartphone or dedicated camera on a tripod is recommended. Detailed technology requirements and setup guides will be provided upon registration.
Absolutely. The program is fully online, making it accessible to musicians anywhere in the world. Session times will be scheduled to accommodate participants across multiple time zones. International students preparing for auditions at institutions anywhere in the world are welcome and encouraged to apply.
This intensive is designed for musicians who are seriously preparing for competitive auditions at conservatories, universities, or professional ensembles. While there is no formal audition for admission to the program, participants should be at a level where they are preparing collegiate or professional-level repertoire.
