SUB-TRACK B OF 8 FALL 2027

Studio & Teaching Business

Building and scaling a private teaching studio.

Why this sub-track exists

The case for Studio & Teaching Business

The largest underserved segment in music education is the music teacher who built their studio from nothing and now wants to scale it past their own time. MTNA, Suzuki Association, Royal Schools, Orff, Kodály — every method-school teacher hits the same ceiling around 20–25 students and the same wall when they try to add a second teacher, a group class, an online offering, or a recital production.

This sub-track is taught by teachers who actually built six-figure private studios — and by the operators who scaled them past one teacher. Four courses, two of them deep cohort terms.

Inside "Building Your Private Teaching Studio (Studio cohort, 16 weeks)"

The flagship course of this sub-track, expanded so you can see the texture. Other courses follow a similar pattern: weekly live cohort sessions + applied workshop + paired 1:1 mentor sessions + specific deliverables building toward a capstone.

In one paragraph: what you'll do Across 16 weeks you take a private teaching studio from 'capped at 20 students' to 'a real business plan with a path to scale.' You diagnose why your studio capped, rebuild your pricing, redesign onboarding for parents, set up scheduling and billing tools that actually work, plan a recital, write a hiring contract for your first second teacher, and decide whether to incorporate. Final week: present a complete studio business plan + recruit-ready landing page to the cohort + two industry guest mentors. Methods covered: Suzuki, Kodály, Orff, Royal Schools, RCM — taught by faculty who actually run multi-teacher studios.
