Patrick Gutman

Piano/Music Theory and Composition | Faculty, The Global Conservatory

Patrick Gutman is a Los Angeles-based film composer, pianist, and music producer. Known for creating melodically-driven, emotionally honest music, he blends traditional classical writing with modern production techniques and electronic elements. His passion lies in composing emotionally expressive music that brings the heart of the story to life, inviting listeners on transformative, expansive journeys.

His work spans film, digital media, and concert music, with projects including the feature documentary 50,000 Miles to Happiness and the comedic YouTube series Metaphysical Joe, which has garnered over a million views. His concert music has been performed across the U.S. and Europe by ensembles like NOW Ensemble and Helix Collective, with recent recognition as the 2025 ASMAC “Cue Connection” Call for Scores Winner, performed at Bandrika Studios in Los Angeles and sponsored by BMI and the Alliance for Women Film Composers (AWFC). He has also been awarded UCLA’s Hugo Davise Fund for Contemporary Music, along with multiple prestigious fellowships including the American Conservatory of Fontainebleau and the Screen Music Program in Pavia, Italy.

Patrick’s musical roots trace back to his classical piano training and early love of film scores. As a teenager, he performed alongside Joe Walsh of The Eagles and opened for rock legends including Steve Miller, The Gin Blossoms, John Waite, and Dick Dale. He went on to earn a PhD in Music Composition from UCLA, and his artistry has been recognized with accolades, including winning the MTAC Southern California Adult Piano Performance Competition.
