Carrie Schafer is a Grammy Award–winning trumpeter, educator, and orchestral musician based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA. With a career shaped by some of the world’s most respected trumpet studios and professional orchestras, she brings a rare combination of elite performance experience, refined listening skills, and deeply thoughtful pedagogy to her teaching.

Carrie holds a Bachelor of Music from Northwestern University, where she studied with Barbara Butler and Charles Geyer, a Performer’s Certificate from the Colburn School under Jim Wilt, and a Master of Music from Michigan State University, where she studied with Justin Emerich. She has also studied extensively with Jordi Albert, a widely respected international trumpet educator.

As a performer, Carrie has played with leading orchestras worldwide and won five major professional auditions, crediting her success to exceptional listening ability, curiosity, and belief-driven practice. She was a Teaching Assistant at Michigan State University, where her mentorship helped guide a student to acceptance at Rice University, one of the most prestigious music schools in the world.

Carrie is passionate about helping students reach their goals through clarity, musical awareness, and confidence-building. She teaches entirely online from a professional home setup and works with students of all ages, from beginners to professionals.
