Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Guitar Foundations is designed for beginners and early-intermediate players. If you can hold a guitar and are ready to commit to regular practice, you have everything you need to start. More advanced players may begin directly with the Styles Lab certificate.

Foundations and most styles can be studied on either acoustic or electric guitar. Classical and Flamenco pathways require a nylon-string instrument. The Blues and Rock/Pop pathways work best on electric guitar with an amplifier, though acoustic is acceptable for early coursework.

The Styles Lab certificate encourages exploration across traditions. While you will choose a primary style focus, all students gain exposure to techniques and repertoire from complementary genres to build versatile musicianship.

Each certificate combines video lessons, interactive exercises, and faculty-reviewed assignments. You will submit practice videos for personalized feedback and participate in live group workshops and masterclasses via video conference.

Each certificate is designed to be completed in approximately six months with 6 to 8 hours of study per week. All programs are self-paced within the enrollment window, so you can adjust your schedule as needed.

Yes. Completing all three certificates in sequence earns The Global Conservatory Guitar Academy Diploma, a comprehensive credential that demonstrates mastery across foundations, style specialization, and performance-readiness.
